More than £2,000 was raised in a Pulborough garden event held to help replace a community ‘mercy vehicle’.

Gail Noon, 49, retired, of Pulborough, opened her garden on August 17 and 18 to raise funds towards replacing the ‘Green Goddess’ - a decade-old, wheelchair-accessible vehicle - with a newer model which will cost Pulborough Community Care less in repairs.

Gail, the newest and youngest member of the charity’s team of voluntary drivers, said: “Everyone seemed to really enjoy their time here, taking time to sit and soak up the atmosphere.

“All in all a wonderful weekend, a pleasing sum raised and nearly everyone left with either a plant or a tombola prize - or both!”
