Two Burgess Hill curry chefs scooped awards at a live cooking competition.

Jhakir Hussain, chef of Flavour in Keymer Road, was runner up for Best Indian Restaurant Chef in Mid Sussex and Fazlur Rahman, chef of Hot and Spicy in Lower Church Road, won Best Indian Takeaway Chef in Mid Sussex.

The Sussex Bangladeshi Caterers Association held the live cooking competition on Sunday, September 16.

Contestants were judged by three independent judges on hygiene, presentation and taste.

Pru Moore, leader of Burgess Hill Town Council, said: “It was a very glamorous event with lots of music and singing and dancing. It was lively and happy and we are just so pleased Burgess Hill got two awards.”
