But it was the Swan Hotel, with its bright and cheerful windows which dazzled the judges into awarding it the Town in Bloom Cup.
Organiser of the Arundel Chamber of Commerce competition Geoff Squire said: "For as long as people can remember, Belinda's, the Copper Kettle or the Mill Road Leisure Grounds have shared the accolade of best flower display in Arundel between them but not this year!"

Hide AdAnd the Swan only just beat the superb St Mary's Gate Inn, in London Road, with its wonderful colour show of baskets and boxes.
In third place was Tarrant Street tea rooms Belinda's.
Winner of the Littlehampton Gazette-sponsored Best Basket category was the Moathouse Tearooms, for their small but impeccable display.
Geoff added: "All the judges, who are professionals or members of the Arundel Garden Society, felt the jubilee tub display in the Mill Road Leisure Gardens was deserving of special mention, as were the baskets, tubs and beds outside the private houses at 85 and 87 Maltravers Street."
