The year-11 student, at Worthing’s Our Lady of Sion School, achieved a stellar set of results – seven A*s and four As to be precise.
However, for the 16-year-old, it was her maths A* that sent her emotions over the edge.
“I was shaking when I went to get my results,” she said,
“I thought I had done really badly in maths.

“But I was just so happy when I saw my results.”
Matilda has ambitions of going to either Bristol University or the University of Cambridge to study veterinary science.
Ann Whitchurch, director of studies, was there when Matilda opened the white envelop containing her marks.
She said: “Her smile just got bigger and bigger when she opened her results. She was crying with joy.”

Hide AdMatilda, who has been with Sion right the way from reception up to year-11, said her grades almost equalled her big sister, Jessica’s marks, several years earlier.
She managed to get eight A* stars and several As.
Matilda’s mum, Grace, praised the school for its caring, family atmosphere, adding: “I was so relieved for Matilda.
“If there’s one child that deserves the sort of results that she achieved, it’s Matilda. She was so focused and her vision was undoubted.”
Matilda is now looking forward to beginning her AS levels in chemistry, maths, biology and geography at Sion, next month.
