Improvements in the pipeline for Rye Sports Centre?
The un-named contractor, which has submitted a bid to run the centre for the next ten years, is proposing to invest £300,000 to extend the gym, plus an additional £246,000 in energy management, which will include new sports hall lighting.
Back in June, Rother District Council put out a call for tenders to run the Rye Sports Centre, Bexhill Leisure Centre and Bexhill Leisure Pool from April 1 2016.

Freedom Leisure currently runs the three sites.
If the new contract is agreed, Rother District Council will save £372,765 by withdrawing a subsidy which was provided to the operator in the previous financial year.
The contract for Bexhill Leisure Centre and Bexhill Leisure Pool will only run for two-and-a-half years, with the option to extend it by a further two-and-a-half years.
Rother District Council opted for a shorter contract as it continues to explore the possibility of a new leisure centre at the old Bexhill High School site.

The contractor is proposing to fund additional new fitness equipment at Bexhill Leisure Centre and maintenance improvements at the pool.
The matter will be discussed at Rother District Council’s Cabinet committee meeting at Bexhill Town Hall on Monday October 5, starting at 11am.
