Jumble Sale set to raise the roof at community centre
Situated on the corner of Croft and Bembrook Roads, the West Hill Community Centre - a registered charity -is in desperate need of a new roof costing around £10,000. Sarah Corrie, Trustee and Co-organiser of the jumble sale, along with Sandra Baker hopes there will be a good turnout. “We wanted to hold a jumble sale, both to raise funds towards replacing the roof and to promote the centre,” she said.
“We are delighted at how many people have shown their support and come forward to donate jumble and help out on the day.”

Sarah added: “Many people don’t know the centre’s there and are missing out on the opportunity to attend low cost classes or use it as a venue. At only £10 an hour to hire, it’s a large, welcoming space with good facilities, a kitchen, car park, a large grassy outside space and glorious views over the Old Town. The centre’s area of benefit are the wards of Tressel, Castle and Old Town Hastings. The Old Town doesn’t have it’s own community centre, and many old town residents aren’t aware that the West Hill Community Centre is there for them.”
