Roadworks woes
My destination was Rustington, via Littlehampton, but when I got to this junction I was unable to take the Littlehampton turn and instead was directed towards Worthing along the A27, which sub-divided into two lanes.
I took the right-hand lane, expecting to be re-diverted later back onto the eastbound carriageway. But this never happened.

Hide AdRealising what had happened, I managed to turn around (it was 4am so very quiet) and get back onto the right carriageway. Although it was quiet it was still an uncomfortable experience.
The Highways Agency has said there have been complaints since Tuesday about these works and confusing contra-flows being put into place without proper signage – not to mention the rush hour queues later in the morning that I witnessed on my return journey towards Chichester.
It beggars belief that the Highways Agency staff can make such a mistake as to allow traffic to find its way onto the wrong side of a dual carriageway at any time of the day, without an exit back onto the correct side further down the road.
