HDC RESULT: Lib Dems hold Forest ward in close race with Tories

The Liberal Democrats have held the Forest ward at Horsham District Council fighting off a strong challenge from the Conservatives.

Godfrey Newman was first elected in 1991 and was a councillor until 2007, before being re-elected in 2011.

He received 1,125 votes compared to 987 for Tory Linda Pettitt and 222 for Darrin Green of the Green Party.

The turnout was 79 per cent.
