The Newhaven lifeboat was scrambled at 10pm when a 14ft boat suffered engine failure close to rocks off the Seven Sisters.
The fishermen managed to get a small auxiliary engine going to help them clear the rocks just before the lifeboat arrived.

However, they were eventually located east of their original position after we and Newhaven Coastguards illuminated the Cuckmere area with 11 flares.'
The fishermen were safely taken onboard the lifeboat and their boat was towed to Newhaven arriving at 12.45am.
They were both unharmed but shaken and sea sick.
