A volunteer who gives up her free time to provide extra support at Kingsland House care home in Shoreham-by-Sea, was given a special thank you during International Volunteer Day on Monday.

Karolyn has chosen to give up two afternoons a week to spend time with residents after both her parents spent their last years happily at Kingsland House.

International Volunteer Day allows allows us to celebrate and recognise the hard work and commitment of selfless volunteers who go above and beyond for our residents.

Karolyn visits twice a week for reminiscing activities, along with general knowledge and singing. She is very supportive in engaging in life enrichment activities, as well as offering meaningful companionship for residents who truly appreciate it. International Volunteer Day is the perfect opportunity to say thank you for her amazing contribution over the years.

Devendra Dallchand, General Manager at Kingsland House, along with the residents, presented Karolyn with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

She said: “Our care home is like a family and our volunteers are a part of that family, loved and valued by everyone. It takes a special kind of person to give up so much of their time to help others and we are so lucky to have her.”
