Witterings collision: Ambulance service thanks bystanders who helped at scene

A cyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a car at the junction with Cakeham Road and Jolliffe Road just before midday. A spokesperson for SECAmb said: “Ambulance crews attended the scene and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service. “The cyclist was assessed and treated at the scene before being airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. “We would like to thank all those at the scene who assisted prior to our arrival.” The B2179 was reportedly blocked eastbound with slow moving traffic in the area after the accident. At 1.15pm, Sussex Police confirmed that the road had reopened but disruption was expected to continue in the East and West Wittering areas. A spokesperson said: “The cyclist has sustained serious injuries and has been airlifted to hospital.
