It has been a hectic month for all at Brighton and Hove Albion and no doubt their technical director David Weir will breath a huge sigh of relief when the window closes today at 11pm.
So far it has not been a bad window for the Albion. Leandro Trossard departed for Arsenal for around £22m plus add-ons. Losing a player of his ability is clearly a blow but of all the talents to depart, Trossard was perhaps one of the better ones to absorb as the emergence of Japan international Kaoru Mitoma has certainly helped cushion the blow. Three players have arrived – Facundo Buonanotte, Yasin Ayari and Mark O'Mahony – and in-keeping with Brighton’s recent strategy, all three are gifted youngsters who the club will hope to develop and then see them thrive in the Premier league, while adding to their potential transfer value. The main talking point has however been Moises Caicedo. The Ecuador midfielder said he wanted to leave but Albion have rebuffed three offers – one from Chelsea and then two from Arsenal.
But there is still time to tweak the squad and here’s what could still happen in the next 12 hours or so...
1. Deniz Undav - stay
Plenty of interest from clubs wanting the German striker on loan, with Norwich keen. De Zerbi however hinted after the FA Cup win against Liverpool that he wants him to stay. Looks as though he will especially with Ferguson picking up an injury against Liverpool Photo: Bryn Lennon
2. Jan Paul van Hecke - stay
A loan move looked a dead cert a few weeks ago but injuries to Levi Colwill and Adam Webster could see the young Netherlands defender remain - unless Albion sign another centre back today. still time for this one to go either way Photo: NIGEL RODDIS
3. Tariq Lamptey - stay
Plenty of talk of him moving this window with Sporting Lisbon, Wolves and Lyon keen but highly unlikely he will exit. Played well against Liverpool in the FA Cup and pushing hard to start this Saturday against Bournemouth. Would be a hugely unpopular decision if the club allowed him to leave. Photo: Mike Hewitt
4. Moises Caicedo - stay
The Ecuador international and his agent stated he wanted to leave but Brighton - so far - have held firm. Chelsea started the bidding at £50m, Arsenal took it up to £60m and then £65m but all were rebuffed. Caicedo is currently 'on leave' and interesting to see if he features this Saturday against Bournemouth. When Brighton ren't ready to sell, they don't sell - even it means a grumpy player on their hands. Photo: Warren Little
