Crawley Town’s interim manager, Lewis Young said he has ‘complete confidence in whoever comes on’ as the club look to include YouTube stars to the bench against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup.

Crawley welcomed YouTube sensations Tobi Brown and Manny Brown to first team training on Tuesday to assess the possibility of including them in Saturday’s FA Cup squad. Alongside their younger brother Jed, either of the trio could feature against Stanley according to FA bylaws.

“I’ve got complete confidence in whoever plays, whether they start or come on,” said Young ahead of this weekend. “As long as they’re affecting the game, then they’re doing right by us as staff.”

Many fans were outraged by the possibility of the brothers potentially taking a Crawley player’s spot in the FA Cup squad. However, Crawley’s new ownership group WAGMI United, are aware of the eyes including some of the UK’s biggest YouTubers could bring to the club.

“We’ve obviously got injuries, so opportunities are going to arise for different people at different times,” added Young on the FA Cup allowing nine substitute places instead of seven. “Now that we’ve got a chance to put a couple more bodies on the bench it’s brilliant for me and them (the players). It gives us more options during the game to make more changes.”

Tobi and Manny both scored in the recent Sidemen Charity match which raised over £1,000,00 for chosen foundations. Despite their lack of professional football experience, the club were eager to scout the pair after their standout performances. Accrington Stanley were promoted to League One in 2018 but are currently 20th in League One. After 17 games, they’ve lost eight, drawn five and won four. As Crawley look to extend their five-game unbeaten record, Young said, “We’ve got to build on the five really good results.

“Accrington Stanley have a fantastic manager in John Coleman. They’ve consolidated themselves since winning promotion in the last couple of years into League One. They’ve gone through a tricky period, but they’ve got some fantastic football players. We’ve got to be acutely aware of that but also, we’ve got to go in with our own confidence to try and get a result because that’s the magic of the FA Cup.”

Crawley were able to thrash Premier League side Leeds United 3-0 last year in the FA Cup as Young watched on as assistant manager. This weekend, he’ll manage an FA Cup game for the first time. With the permanent managerial position still yet to be decided, he said, “Any game I get to lead the lads out is fantastic.

“I’ve really enjoyed this period and I hope the boys, the fans and everyone around the club have. We (Young’s new staff) came in during a really tricky moment and that’s not where we wanted the club to be. But luckily, we’ve been able to turn that around with some really good performances and long may that continue.”

Crawley will welcome Accrington Stanley to their Broadfield Stadium this Saturday. With a trip to Burnley in the Carabao Cup on the following Tuesday, the Reds will hope they can progress further during a hectic but successful period.
