But the sale went through in the midst of media reports that both Scotland’s biggest two clubs were making bids.

Drummy said: “I am happy with the business done on Gwion.
“On one hand you don’t want to lose a quality player, on the other hand you don’t want to be sitting in December knowing you are going to lose a quality player for no money.
“So it was a decision that initially the player, we were informed, wanted to move on and wouldn’t be signing (a new contract).
“It meant we could follow-up a couple of tentative enquiries we did have.
