The 45ft yacht, named Supeta, was donated to 3rd / 5th Lancing Sea Scouts and it took years of work to get it shipshape before it made its first journey as a training vessel in August 2020. This year has seen the Scouts sailing to Poole Harbour and they had a good voyage down from Shoreham. Tom Smith, Scout leader, said: "We have had daily trips out from the anchorage off Brownsea Island. The young people hoisted the sails and stopped, dropping anchor in Swanage Bay, diving off the yacht and going ashore to a gorgeous sandy beach." Education, support and wellbeing, both physical and mental, are at the core of the project, and the vessel has been completely refurbished and adapted to allow children of all ages and physical abilities to go aboard to enjoy the pleasure of sailing. Sailing trips along the south coast give young crews the experience of voyages to other places.
