Waving goodbye to Great Britain

As I see it, this was a victory for ignorance and intolerance. The EU has become the scapegoat for all ills to befall the people of Britain. It has conveniently detracted from the policy failings of our politicians and greed of bankers and multinationals that created the feelings of helplessness and fear for so many in the first place.
The fact that the EU provided each and every one of us with environmental, social and economic support and stability is neither here nor there. As we wave goodbye to the EU, we will also soon be waving goodbye to Great Britain, the outward looking, dynamic and generous nation that understood the need for trade and fairness, the exchange of goods, capital and, yes indeed, people. Here in Rother we can now rejoice in this victory, the creation of Little England: inward looking, narrow minded, a bit backwards.
